The inside of the case was sprayed with chalkboard paint to give it an all matt, non-reflective interior. The back panel was also sprayed with the chalkboard paint as a primer for a gloss black coat later.
The hard drive was to be mounted on the base. Using an old drive as a template - don’t want to damage the new one - four mounting holes were drilled.
The mounting screws were sleeved with little rubber shock absorbers I salvaged from an old CD mechanism.
All the metal work was cleaned, de-greased, primed and sprayed with black gloss automotive paint.
The power supply mounting plate and rear I/O panel were painted.
Even the graphics card was stripped down and painted.
The X-Fi sound card was left in its gold livery so it would stand out against the gloss black.
